Mission Statement: "To provide home furnishings and education to Recovering Single Mothers who are transitioning back into the community from homelessness, abuse, addiction and/or jail, so that they may be independent."
There are a great many single parents in the Bay Area who are raising their children on their own. Alcohol and substance abuse among single mothers is an unfortunate reality for many. However, there are women who want to get better for their children, for themselves, and for their communities. It is a difficult process of recovery, and recovery organizations often aren’t able to meet their basic needs. What do recovering single mothers do when they don’t have the basics: a couch, a bed, or dishes (or the funds to purchase these necessities) as they transition from a residential or sober living environment?
On My Way, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women get back on their feet. We provide basic household needs such as furniture, linens, kitchen and bath items, small appliances, and electronics. These basic household items come from donations from various organizations, as well as from private individuals.
Our goal is to lend a helping hand to recovering single moms and their children, so that they may focus more on their children and on their recovery. Giving this ‘hand up’ allows them to build a foundation to become productive members of society once again.
Together, we can change people’s lives in significant ways!
