Covering 10 counties across North and South Carolina, OPT Out is committed to advocating for inclusive communities by providing education, outreach, prevention, and collaborative initiatives that improve overall wellness, promote dignity, and eradicate stigma related to substance use disorder (SUD) for the LGBTQIA+ community and people living with HIV/AIDS.
We provide tailored education and outreach for the LGBTQIA+ community and people living with HIV/AIDS. The objective is to heighten awareness and reduce stigma surrounding substance use disorders (SUD), LGBTQIA+ identities, and HIV/AIDS.
The OPT Out Taskforce is a key component of our strategy, fostering collaboration between Carolinas CARE Partnership and local agencies. This collaboration is geared towards addressing opioid misuse within our targeted demographic, contributing to the overall well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals and people living with HIV/AIDS. Our approach emphasizes active community engagement, employing a trauma-informed and harm reduction methodology. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment for the LGBTQIA+ individuals we serve. Through partnerships with community stakeholders and the implementation of a comprehensive Task Force, we are actively working to reduce opioid misuse and stigma among this population.
