Kaishan’s steam-based screw expander generator technology and their Organic Rankine Cycle (“ORC“) based screw expander technology are particularly well suited to optimizing the development of geothermal fields worldwide.
OTE is focused on the development of geothermal power projects using the well-head unit (“WHU”) technology developed by Kaishan. Traditionally, medium and high-temperature geothermal power generation Projects utilize large steam turbines, which are primarily manufactured by Japanese companies. In comparison with conventional utility-scale steam turbine technology, Kaishan’s WHU technology demonstrates significant advantages:
Shorter time to COD: Construction times can be shortened significantly speeding up the time to achieve COD and provide electricity to the grid;
Greater Operating Flexibility: Kaishan units can utilize geothermal wells with any pressure allowing for the more efficient use of the steam field resource. Even in the absence of steam, electricity can be generated from hot water;
Higher Operating Efficiency: Kaishan units are more efficient and outperform steam turbines as Kaishan’s plant can generate electricity from both steam and hot water;
Capital Cost Efficient: By installing units on wellpads, there is no need to construct expensive steam-gathering pipes and related infrastructure, lowering capital investment as well as ongoing steam loss and maintenance costs; and
Lower Manufacturing Cost: Kaishan’s units are lower cost and provide better value than centralized turbines.
