The (OSA) Optical Society is a scientific society dedicated to advancing the study of light, its theory and applications, through academic publications, the promotion of scientific conferences and exhibitions, industry partnerships, and education programs. This page represents the chapter of the Optical Society at the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI).
Founded in 1913 under the name Instituto Eletrotécnico e Mecânico de Itajubá – IEMI, by the personal initiative of Theodomiro Carneiro Santiago; it is considered as the first technological university in the country and was the tenth engineering school in Brazil.
