The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is a worldwide synthetic biology competition, which occurs every year, with teams working on their projects over the summer. Oxford has entered a team every year since 2014, and all have achieved Gold Medals. The most recent team, in 2017, won the award for 'Best Diagnostic', and was nominated for a further 5 awards.
