The Oxford University Jazz Orchestra is the oldest jazz orchestra at the University of Oxford. It was founded in the early 1990s and has been playing constantly since.
The band plays a large and musically diverse repertoire encompassing big band classics and more contemporary jazz art works as well as original compositions by band members. It is particularly renowned for the energy and vibrancy of its performances and has previously been a winner at the BBC Big Band Competition.
OUJO performs regularly on the Oxford ball circuit and participates annually in a Varsity ‘jazzoff’ match against the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra.
