Since the conception of Palaa Eco-lodge in early 2021, our dream has been to build a sustainable hotel that adapts to the landscape and Wayuu culture in Mayapo. Starting from the architectural design, which is based on the «rancherias», a traditional Wayuu house. Only local materials are being used, like «Yotojoro», which is a type of wood extracted from dry cactus. Interior design is based on Wayuu handcrafting. The environmental aspect of the project is fundamental. Solar energy, water reutilization, permaculture, recycling and non-use of plastic are part of the business core ideologies. The lodge is planned to inaugurate on the 1st of December 2022.
