People's Animal Welfare Society is an animal rescue with a difference. Founded in 2021, our early team had years of experience caring for and re-homing rescue animals. We are here for all cats and dogs who need us although we specialise in foreign strays and disabled animals. As a strictly foster-first rescue, our animals are cared for in normal family homes, with kennels and catteries only used in emergency cases as they can be a source of stress.
We make a special effort to save animals who would usually be turned down by other rescue organisations, either due to inexperience or cost. Our Founding Team has extensive experience with disabled and elderly pets. We understand that these animals will struggle to find adoptive homes so opened our Wonky Paws Club especially for them. Some animals may remain under our care through our Permanent Foster scheme to ensure that their final months or years are as comfortable as possible.
Each of our animals receive a Vet check up, all of their lawfully required vaccinations (and a few extras for our overseas animals which we feel are best practice), are microchipped, and neutered if they are old enough and healthy enough. Once an animal has been fully assessed we begin the search for their perfect family.
We believe that spaying and neutering is the only real solution to the issue of stray animals all over the world. This is why we began our Save a Life, Spay Another campaign, where new adopters have the opportunity to donate an extra £25 on top of their adoption fee. This is then used to sterilise another animal overseas and improve their quality of life, risk of diseases such as pyometra and cancers and, over time, reduce the numbers of , over time, reduce reduce the numbers of strays.
At PAW Society, we believe that uniting individuals and organisations can improve animal welfare all over the world and that together, we can save more paws.
