Pequi do Cerrado Institute Overview

The Pequi do Cerrado Institute aims to promote environmental and cultural innovation projects designed to promote the sustainable development of cultural landscapes. Towards the enhancement of cultural and natural heritage the istitutional stategic guidelines are aligned to five principles of sustainability: environmental, cultural, social, economic and technological. The founding partners of the institute form an interdisciplinary team involving knowledge from different disciplines such as agronomy, architecture, craftsmanship, administration, education, geography and health. Today, the institute's operational focus is on the northern state of Minas Gerais, with actions linked to the development of traditional communities, the valorization of their traditional knowledge, the preservation of natural resources and the integration proposal of an institutional governance network that promotes connections with local public authorities, NGOs, educational institutions and private initiatives that operate in this context.
