We’ve created Peripear out of professional frustration and a passion to change birth for good. The reality is that 90% of women birthing vaginally today suffer perineal injuries. It’s painful, costly (over $10 billion a year in the US alone) and it simply shouldn’t be this way.
That’s why we’re building Peripear: wearable technology designed to prevent injuries, ease pain, and make birth safer and smoother for everyone. Vaginal tearing is the number one fear for birthing people, and we’re here to change that.
So far, we’ve made exciting progress. Our functional prototype is up and running, and a physical prototype was completed in just two months. We’ve secured 2–3 pilots in Israel, 3 with the NHS, and 2 more in the US are currently in negotiation. We’re now raising £1M, with £250K already committed, to keep moving forward.
Behind Peripear are two founders who bring both expertise and heart: Eviatar, who has over a decade of scaling startups in healthtech, raised over $75M and led MedTech companies as CXO from concept to market. He is highly educated with a PhD from University of Cambridge and a visiting scholar at MIT. Nina has 12 years of experience in NHS and Private Practices as a midwife and has played a key role in facilitating hundreds of births.
