Plastic pollution of non-biodegradable plastics in the seas and landfill causes serious problems to our environment, and our innovation will help combat the use of these unsustainable plastics for many applications including e.g. personal care and the packaging industry. We are a team of researchers from the University of Sheffield that have recently developed novel sustainable bioplastics (within the family of Polyhydroxyalkanoates) that can be used to replace fossil-derived plastics in the medical devices and personal care sectors.
