The PNG Institute of Banking and Business Management was established in 1965 by the Reserve Bank of Australia to provide Banking training in the country. It has evolved over time to provide other soft skills training for corporate entities from all sectors. Recently, it partnered with the PNG LNG Project to establish the IBBM Enterprise Centre to provide capacity building programs for local companies. It has also seen the need to provide quality education for PNG citizens so partnered with the Torrens University Australia to provide MBA, Bachelors, Diploma and Certificate Programs which are all Australian programs.
IBBM is owned by the Banks hence the CEOs of the all the commercial Banks are on its board where the Governor of the Central Bank is the Chairman. ExxonMobil PNG Ltd has joined this highly esteemed board in 2013.
It is one of a very few organizations in the country that are ISO 9001:2015 accredited.
