Our mission is to connect poetry and people. We are committed to achieving excellence in the reading, writing and performance of poetry throughout the island of Ireland. Since 2016, our home has been a beautiful Georgian house at 11 Parnell Square East and we have embarked on ambitious and innovative plans to redevelop this townhouse as the Poetry Ireland Centre. The Centre will include the Seamus Heaney Poetry Library, contemporary workshop and performance spaces along with a poetry cafe and garden. Poetry Ireland recognises the value of welcoming, encouraging and embracing the work of poets from all communities with a wide variety of backgrounds and interests. The organisation's mission is to connect poetry and people, a mission which can only be achieved when the full diversity of voices within the poetic community is represented.
