Nowadays, an increasing number of areas, including the Industry 4.0, the medical, automotive, and logistic sectors, are exploiting robotics to transform traditional processes to maximise their efficiency and reliability. The field of mobile robots is rapidly evolving thanks to the introduction of new technologies related to artificial intelligence, which can be deeply exploited to define a new category of vehicles called Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR). The implementation of such solutions on forklifts enables the handling of materials in every kind of environment and gives the user the chance to be assisted during a number of operations. Polytec Intralogistics aims to make robotics a service to humans, focusing on the development of technologies that provide the robot with the possibility to recognise the surrounding environment and distinguish between fixed and moving obstacles, people, and walls. The company also designs sophisticated algorithms for the movement of vehicles based on innovative real-time planning techniques. These technologies allow the robot, on the basis of environmental assessments, to autonomously navigate in complex environments even in the presence of unexpected obstacles and physical impediments, always keeping human safety as a priority. Furthermore, we study and develop advanced solutions for human-robot interaction in order to develop the concept of cooperative robotics, a fundamental element in the concept of industry 5.0. 🟠🟠🟠
