Portable Lawyer is the brainchild of practicing South African lawyer and notary, Safiyya Patel. Patel identified, and related with the challenges entrepreneurs face of not having the resources available to get quality legal advice when navigating their way through starting and managing their businesses. Using her own seed capital and partnering with close friend and like-minded entrepreneur, Hoosain Karjieker, Portable Lawyer was born.
The unique skills combination of a highly recognised lawyer and successful business man provides the winning recipe in creating a business concept second to none. Karjieker’s extensive network, built over years in the media industry, affords the winning duo the opportunity to partner up with Entrostat. Work immediately started on a viable, cloud based template and contract creation solution, with contract management capabilities. The design is focussed on removing stress, expense, and complexity from the legal process.
Two years into building and crafting Portable Lawyer into a viable business solution, Melanie van Biljon, an internationally experienced executive, joined to introduce and market Portable Lawyer to entrepreneurial South Africa.
