Located in the heart of the historic center of Quito, the construction of Hotel Boutique Portal Cantuña dates from 1863 and has been carefully restored . The hotel has a baroque style in its decoration, you can easily notice the gold leaf carved columns and pillars of the room, the dining room and other areas of the hotel.
The hotel has beautiful internal, very well maintained gardens. The giant stained glass covering the inner courtyard gives a magical and colorful atmosphere to the hotel, artworks like the chapel has a late sixteenth century virgin, and paintings from the Quito school that have been heirlooms still held as part of the decor.
The living room and its columns painted with gold leaf, window borders and friezes hand painted by indigenous artists, the elegant furniture ,cristal rock mirrors brought from Paris, and the carved wood dinning room, which is a replica the Carondelet palace one. All these details give the visitor the privilege of being immersed in the unique atmosphere of an old Quito’s house.
