Pervasive Personalized Intelligence Center (PPI Center)

The Pervasive Personalized Intelligence (PPI) Center is a multi-university partnership between industry, the University of Colorado Boulder, Oregon State University, and Oakland University. We are also a National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRU). Our center supports the next big growth in Internet of Things (IoT) systems that pushes Pervasive Personalized Intelligence to the edge of the network, where latency is critical, and mobility, privacy, and context awareness are essential qualities to enable an entirely new class of applications with intelligence that is predictive instead of reactive. Current industry research projects include Changepoint Detection, AI at the Edge, Improving Deep Networks for Vision and Language Tasks, Code Migration for ML-based Software, and Scalable AI Debugging. Our three partner universities work together to further these research efforts. Colorado leads research in the areas of edge and cloud computer; programming languages and verification; and software engineering and human-computer interaction. Oregon State primarily pursues activities in the area of machine learning and artificial intelligence; security and privacy; and visualization and visual analytics. Oakland University focuses on secure and intelligent transportation; software engineering; explainable multimodal distributed intelligence; AI and digital twins; and smart energy.
