About If you were an engineer, what would you do? Leaders Award Competition

If you were an engineer what would you do? Is the question posed for learners between the ages of 3 and 19yrs across the UK. Pupils are invited to interview engineers about their work, careers and how they creatively problem solve. Learners are then tasked with finding a problem and drawing (and annotating) a solution to it. They then complete the project by writing a letter to an engineer explaining why they should build it. All entries are graded by engineers, regional awards presented, and local exhibitions share the amazing ideas and solutions with the wider public. Every learner receives a named certificate with a grade awarded by an engineer. As part of the competition University Proto-Teams select ideas to build and share the process with local schools unveiling the outcomes at the following year's exhibitions. The competition runs from September to the closing date of mid-March - check the website for this year’s details, access to resources and book on-line interviews.
