The Prison Information Service (PIS) was established through a partnership between Community Law Canterbury and the Howard League. The purpose of the Service is to provide legal information to prisoners who would otherwise not have access to a lawyer. The involvement of the Howard League provides for welfare support as well as research and submissions into prison reform.
