Project Kids Give was founded in 2012 by Mark Guerin who was inspired by the idea of simply giving. All children deserve to smile. Project Kids Give aims to give a bear to children who are in need of a smile. Guerin spent his youth heavily involved in and inspired by the mission of the YMCA. In 2005, Mark was at an age where he could give back to his community and began to volunteer for his local Y. When he began working at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA as a preschool teacher in 2009, his ambition to help children grew from his own deeply rooted childhood experiences in generosity and selfless acts of kindness. During his time at the Y, Mark noticed all the children carried and cherished a particular stuffed animal. Whether during story time, lunch time, or nap time, each child embraced a furry friend. It was quite obvious that each toy provided a source of security, comfort and of course, friendship. That’s when he realized that all children deserved a plush pal. The act of giving as a way of life is extremely important to Guerin, due to his mother & grandmother teaching him to lend a hand, as well as his heart, to anyone in need. He wants to make sure that other children understand the importance of giving, as he did. So for every bear Project Kids Give sells, we’re going to give one to a child in need of a smile by partnering up with organizations worldwide who help children every day. We're all about giving.
