ProsperH2 is a chair between the industrial ENGIE, the applied research center CEA and the social science laboratory PACTE-UGA. Today, more than 95% of the Hydrogen production uses a pathway that emits a lot of CO2, significantly contributing to the climate change. The purpose of ProsperH2 is to developp a device to produce green Hydrogen, meaning without CO2 emissions, thanks to solar light. The objective is to create a prototype of 100 cm² of active surface area.
The fundamental process is the photo-electrochemical splitting of water (H2O) into Hydrogen (H2) and Oxygen (O2). The project focuses on different areas: the electrodes, the prototype of the cell, i.e. the whole device in action here, a complete analysis of the phenomena chain leading to the Hydrogen production, but also life cycle analysis and socio-technical prospectives.
The idea is to study the whole system and each and every component in it, but also the impact of the device.
