Born from the ambition of South Africans returning home after years abroad, Proto Care was conceived to make a tangible difference in the country’s healthcare infrastructure. Through intensive research, we pinpointed a critical need for enhanced primary healthcare, leading us to adopt a healthtech approach aimed at revitalizing this crucial sector.
Our Mission:
At Proto Care, our mission is twofold - to empower patients by putting them at the center of our operations & to emphasize a preventative approach in healthcare. By doing so, we aim to transform South Africa’s healthcare landscape into one that’s proactive, patient-centered and technologically advanced.

Our business model is B2C, designed to forge direct connections between Proto Care and healthcare consumers. This patient-centric approach ensures that every solution we develop is geared toward making healthcare more accessible & responsive to the needs of South Africans.

At Proto Care, we’re powered by purpose — and by people who care deeply. Led by our founder & co-founder, and joined by 18 passionate volunteers across tech, design, data, and healthcare — we’re building a healthcare ecosystem with heart. From backend builders to clinical advisors, every member of our team is here because they believe South Africa deserves better, accessible care for all!

From the initial MVP development to the upcoming testing and validation phase with doctors, nurses, and patients, With feedback and iteration at the heart of our process, we’re refining our platform to perfection, eagerly anticipating the official launch and onboarding of our first patients in mid 2025.
