SMH, 5th Aug 1880 “A new brewery has recently been started in Union-street, Pyrmont, near the bridge, by Mr Felmingham, and the owner has given it the name of the suburb in which it is situated. Brewing only commenced in June, but we are informed that the demand for the article produced at the Pyrmont Brewery is weekly increasing, the beer sent out being light, sound, and refreshingly bitter.
Every effort is made to assimilate this beer to the pale ale produced by Alsopp and Bass, and a creditable amount of success has been attained.
As colonial beers go that made at the Pyrmont Brewery is above the average, and it would be curious if it were not so, seeing that only malt, hops, sugar, and water are its ingredients, and that a brewer of large colonial experience superintends the manufacture.”
