The quantum solids laboratory was established in 1975 at the Institute of Physics at UFRGS. Previously it was known as the laboratory of resistivity and also as the laboratory of superconductivity and magnetism. Today, the quantum solids lab provides the infrastructure to study the electronic properties of solids at low temperatures. Our objective is to do fundamental and applied research in condensed matter physics. Currently, we have an emphasis on quantum materials, magnetism, unconventional superconductivity, magneto-electric properties, exotic metals, topological materials, cuprate superconductivity, and superconducting devices. Our studies have a temperature range from 1.8 K to 1700 K and magnetic fields up to 9 T.
