The concept of Quay Performance Sailing began during a Long Island Sound team racing event in the summer of 2011. In the fleet were several US Junior National Team sailors, all wearing board shorts, surfing rash guards and other non-sailing-specific gear. Anyone in the spectator fleet could see that these elite sailors favored styling, fabric and construction that did not exist in the sailing apparel market. An idea was born: Develop a pair of sailing shorts with a modern, athletic look using the highest quality materials and manufacturing.
