Quoc Hoc – Hue High School for the Gifted is a national magnet and gifted high school in Thua Thien - Hue, Vietnam. Founded in 1896, Quoc Hoc - Hue is the second oldest high school in Vietnam. The school is recognised for its strong academic results, students' qualities and staffs' levels. The school is also famous for the notable political leaders who graduated from it, including Ho Chi Minh.
Quoc Hoc - Hue ranked first nationally in the 2012 Vietnam university admission ranking. For a long time, it has been considered as one of the most selective institutions in Vietnam for its rigorous entrance exam (below 10% admission rate). Since 2012, with the target of becoming a featured specialised school, the school offers only specialised classes which focus on one particular subject, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Vietnamese Literature, History, Geography, English, Japanese and French.
The school has many high-achievers in national and international competitions, including the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), International Biological Olympiad (IBO), and International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). Many school graduates have also got admitted to prestigious universities and colleges in the world, including: MIT, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Osaka University, and KAIST, etc.
