Racing Patagonia®, which was founded in 2002, specializes in the production of sporting events throughout Southern Chilean Patagonia. Between February 2004 and February 2022, the events included within the Racing Patagonia® project have totaled 38 editions (107 races) and brought together more than 12,500 competitors from 74 countries throughout the world. Thus, during the two decades of operations, we have completed over 140 race days and covered more than 10,500 kilometers throughout Southern Chilean Patagonia.
Our beginnings date back to November 2002. At that time, Stjepan Pavicic (geologist and mountaineer) left his formal job in the field of engineering and geoscience behind to pursue a dream, a dream that led him to fully dedicating himself to the creation and development of international sporting events in Southern Chilean Patagonia. Since its origin, the fundamental concept has been to explore the territory and generate life experiences based on unforgettable journeys, where the essential aspect is the interaction between humans and nature. This has been the way to globally connect us and export experiences and images from Chilean Patagonia to the world.
In the early years, all of the efforts were focused on designing and organizing the Patagonian Expedition Race® (The Last Wild Race), which began with its inaugural edition in 2004. Its format is a non-stop race, where teams compete in long sessions of mountaineering, trekking, trail running, gravel cycling and kayaking. Later, in 2012, Patagonian International Marathon® was born, being the first marathon in Torres del Paine National Park. In 2014, we launched Ultra Paine®, the first trail-running event to take place in that same national park. The following year, in 2015, Ultra Fiord® surprised the trail-running world with its wild nature, becoming the first trail-running event with a distance of 100 miles in the southernmost region of Chilean Patagonia.
