Our goal at ReCast is to remove as much plastic from the oceans as we can. Currently, there are over 5 trillion pieces of plastic our oceans, and every year, more than 8 million more tons of are added. That's the equivalent volume of 9 billion Walleyes!
Plastic waste is responsible for the deaths of roughly 1 million marine animals every year, or nearly 2 animals every minute — from whales, dolphins, fish, and sea turtles, to pelicans and other seabirds and even plankton... no creature is untouched by the destructive impacts of unimaginable amounts of plastic polluting our oceans.
On September 16th, the ReCast was successfully crowdfunded through Kickstarter!
