The RTR is an international organization founded in Buenos Aires, with the aim to improve the sustainability level of tourism, through participatory and intersectoral definition of responsible tourism principles verifiable by the consumer itself. The RTR works on training and information for tourists and citizens through public activities, developing channels to connect the supply and demand to promote responsible tourism and making governments to take its central role in the matter.
Some of the topics covered by the agenda include the conservation and enhancement of natural and cultural heritage, energy and resource efficiency, alternative energy, solid waste management, economic and social participation of the community, sustainable buying, consumer information and training, decent employment and accessibility.
RTR has about 50 members distributed in Argentina and Uruguay.
