REEF Development Overview

The Renewables and Energy Efficiency Facility (REEF) is a fund management and project development company. We target high-yield photovoltaic projects in safe developing markets that urgently need more energy capacity. We believe that renewable energy combined with energy efficiency is the only sustainable solution to the increasingly growing need for power, especially in the developing countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. Our goal is to accelerate the deployment of utility-scale photovoltaic projects where energy is needed the most – local communities and fast-growing urban regions in the developing world. We focus exclusively on photovoltaic projects as they can be installed in 3 – 6 months and are easy to replicate after proving the business case. Depending on the specific business case, we perform all or part of the following scope to bring the project to completion: Equity co-investment and last-mile development to help promising photovoltaic projects become shovel-ready Raising debt and equity funding, including through securing political risk insurance Selection and contracting of EPC companies to secure optimal price, timeframe and guarantees for the project construction Construction of photovoltaic parks through a network of partnering companies Project management during construction and commissioning Having reviewed over 200 projects around the world, we narrowed down our target markets to a handful of countries combining good investment climate, growing energy need and a powerful local contact network. We have accumulated a portfolio of over 600 MWp of projects from proven developers in Australia, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Ukraine, Jordan, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Namibia, Chile and the U.S.
