Streets of Trees is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and nurturing of urban and rural trees in Israel. Our mission is to promote the importance of trees in the urban landscape and encourage their planting, protection, and sustainable development. We believe that trees, which can live for hundreds of years, play a vital role in enhancing our cultural, environmental, and climatic heritage.
Our work is driven by the understanding that one of the most effective ways to address climate change is through tree planting and the preservation of existing trees in the face of rapid urbanization and development. Despite national and local forest laws and regulations, the current state of our urban trees is far from ideal.
For the past three years, community groups of dedicated tree enthusiasts have been actively working in Israel. These groups operate on a voluntary basis, aiming to collaborate with governmental agencies, local authorities, and forest officials. In addition to their efforts, they also act as a hindrance to development projects that threaten our trees.
Our commitment is to work together with community leaders and local groups, creating a united front against the challenges posed to our urban trees and fostering a culture of respect and preservation for these essential elements of our environment.
