The REIT Portfolio Practicum at Arizona State University is a selective, hands-on investment program designed for high-achieving undergraduate and graduate students interested in real estate capital markets. Directed by Professor of Practice Blair Koblenz, the program provides participants with the opportunity to manage and actively underwrite a real portfolio of publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), now exceeding $1 million in market value.
Students operate as investment analysts and portfolio managers, conducting fundamental real estate and financial statement analysis, assessing macroeconomic drivers, and applying REIT-specific valuation methodologies. Working in sector-based teams, participants pitch individual securities to an internal investment committee and make real-world buy/sell decisions that impact actual capital.
