The Right Livelihood Foundation presents the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the Alternative Nobel Prize, every year. It also sees its task as making the knowledge and work of the award winners accessible. To this end, it works closely with universities worldwide and with networks such as the Right Livelihood College and the Global Campus of Human Rights. The RLZ is also part of this context. To this end, the RLZ is active in the areas of further education and public relations. At the same time, university research in the fields of human rights and ecology is transferred to the work of the foundation. The cornerstone of Right Livelihood's collaboration with the University of Zurich is the annual lecture, which was first held in the Aula in 2008. Since then, every year in November or December, a current laureate gives a public lecture on their work and impact. Since 2020, the RLZ has been organisationally assigned to the Delegate for Sustainability. In the spring semester, the RLZ and the UZH sustainability team jointly organise the public lecture series "Sustainability now!".
