RIHLA Overview

Like any other community, the Muslim community struggles with issues of abuse, domestic violence, mental health, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Even in the safest spaces, it takes a lot of courage for victims to report abuse. Muslims also deal with the additional challenge of Islamophobia that prevents many of them from seeking the help they deserve and need. This causes many Muslims to underreport their needs, and to rely on coping mechanisms that are unsustainable and often harmful for the community at large. Rihla is the Arabic word for journey. Resolving the issues our community face will not happen overnight, and it will require a collective effort. In visualizing our success, our team imagined taking our community on a journey from where we are to where we hope to be. Everyone’s path in this journey is unique and different. The team at Rihla Center is committed to extending our hands towards whoever seeks our support to help them on their journey without any fear of stereotyping or cultural judgment. Our team has qualified professionals in the fields of mental health, spiritual well-being, personal coaching, and youth mentorship. We provide services that are child and family focused, spiritually oriented, and rooted in Islamic values.
