Rise Rural Philippines started in January 2022 as a participant in the Go Green Challenge 2022, an international innovation competition. Burdened with the inaccessibility of health care services in rural communities, the team worked on a solution with the help of some alumni of the Department of Health's Doctor-to-the-Barrio program.
Now, Rise Rural Philippines is developing its first product called Araw-Kalinga Box (AKB). It is an all-in-one portable solar-powered box that will help barrio doctors provide maternal and infant health care anywhere. With AKB, we aim to help reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the Philippines.
Rise Rural Philippines won a seed grant in the Youth Social Innovation Lab: Kabataan All In 2022, organized by the United Nations Development Programme and Edukasyon.ph.
