Rise RVA Foundation Overview

RISE RVA is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that offers rock climbing programs specifically to middle school students in the Richmond City Public School system. The idea for RISE was formed when a group of passionate rock climbers came together with a shared desire to inspire and challenge young adults to become community leaders. RISE felt strongly that rock climbing could shape students during a time of transition and self-discovery. RISE sought to offer a free, out of the classroom, experience where students could be given the power and freedom to make decisions, estimate the risks, take responsibility, and accomplish their goals. We believe the beneficial components of rock climbing inspire and cultivate proactive problem-solving skills on the climbing wall, in the classroom, and in the personal lives of each student that participates. Ultimately, our vision is that through the culture of rock climbing students will be made aware of their capacity to influence their community and embrace the challenge of becoming the leader of their own destiny.
