THE TIME IS NOW FOR COLOMBIA! The Colomb¡a R¡s¡ng Project aims to bring years of experience in Colombia to increase investment in sustainable enterprise and tourism, encourage responsible travel and exchange, and help bring out the best in a Colombia in transition by sharing and highlighting the magic - and complex challenges - that make it such a rich place worth committing to. CRP exists to do our part to help the country navigate its rise amidst the challenges of the post-conflict era. At a minimum, the CRP exists to share news and build community, particularly as related to #tourism, #innovation, #conservation, and #socent (social entrepreneurship). Further, a signature, long-term program is the design and participatory implementation of the Colombia Peace Path 🇨🇴 www.colombiapeacepath.org: Envisioned as a pathway that stretches from the northernmost tip of South America (Punta Gallinas, Colombia) down to the mountainous border with Ecuador and the Amazon lowlands, the Colombia Peace Path is more than a hiking trail. It is meant to bring the natural wonders and geographic exceptionalism of Colombia to the attention of the world, to increase responsible global tourism to Colombia, and to help provide new sources of legitimate income for local communities and demobilized fighters along the route at a truly critical time in Colombia’s history. The pathway itself will be cared for, maintained, and marketed by a coalition of local, regional, and national entities, as a marked hiking route across Colombia using existing paths, tracks, and roads from the Caribbean coast to the Pacific, potentially from Punta de Gallinas to Tumaco, zigzagging across all three cordilleras. The route will split into smaller ‘sections’ (that can be trekked individually) with regular accommodation and camping opportunities and places to buy food. The Colombia Rising Project will manage a virtual community of route walkers who will be invested for good in Colombia's prosperity. ¡!
