Our love of premium coffee was started in Europe, using cafés as an easy way to explore local communities and meet friendly locals. Over time, café stops grew into an obsession with finding the best espresso, an appreciation of baristas handcrafting traditional lattes, and an increased focus on the bold flavors of dark roast coffee.
After lingering in Europe's countless sidewalk cafés, an educational business trip to Seattle, Washington opened our eyes to the science of coffee roasting and brewing. The combination of experimentation and handcrafting quickly became our new passion and at-home brewing started to become more methodical and artistic as well.
Focusing on dark roasts that tend to peak at 28% development, a market niche was discovered and full-bodied coffee became the hallmark of Roast28. We savor our relationships with local roasters who are experts at preserving the dark chocolatey, nutty, rich flavors only found after roasting into the second crack.
As we started Roast28, we committed ourselves to join movements that concentrate on building positive local and global communities. Learning about ethically sourced coffee beans, the benefits co-ops provide other countries, and sustainable farming practices motivated our determination to only carry USDA Organic and Fair Trade certified coffee.
