We believe that there is a need to establish a Bioinformatics-oriented Regional Student Group (RSG) for Finland. An RSG able to bring together the bioinformaticians of Finland, which can be especially beneficial for international students/young researchers who may not be familiar with the local culture. An RSG able to provide a sense of community and support for young professionals, helping them to feel more connected to the university and to their peers. An RSG able to promote cultural awareness by organizing events and activities that showcase the diverse backgrounds and experiences of its members. An RSG able to provide a platform to share experiences and opinions, which can help to inform university policies and decisions related to students. Overall, a regional student group able to play an important role in supporting the education and professional development of students studying/working in bioinformatics.
We propose RSG-Finland with the following missions:
• support the training and development of students and young researchers/professionals in bioinformatics.
• foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the bioinformatics community.
• promote the interactions between biologists/clinicians/… and bioinformaticians.
• enhance the communication between research groups/companies and young researchers/professionals.
