Safe Water and AIDS Project (SWAP) has been operating since 2005 in Western Kenya with public health programs, research and emergency response. It has a modern state of the art water lab for water quality testing and disease surveillance which serves as well as a production unit for chlorine, alcohol based hand rub and liquid soap. A diagnostic lab is established supporting research on neglected tropical diseases. SWAP as member of the Western Kenya Humanitarian Hub has always been first responder during disease outbreaks and flood in the region. SWAP established solar powered water disinfection units to provide safe and clean water to vulnerable communities using modern technologies. SWAP has build the capacity of community health promoters to do the social marketing of over 50 life saving health products. SWAP is pioneer in social behavioral change communication to enhance the prevention of diseases and mitigate the impact during disasters and disease outbreaks. We offer support on needs basis to orphans and vulnerable families.
