The Partnership for a Safer Maryland (PSM) was formed in September of 2005 in response to the Maryland Department of Health receiving a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Core Injury Grant. This five-year grant supports the State’s capacity to address injury and violence in Maryland and seeks to establish a self-sufficient injury program that will continue to address the safety needs of our residents long into the future.
In May 2016, CDC announced that the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration, Environmental Health Bureau, Center for Injury and Sexual Assault Prevention (CISAP), a unit of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), would be the grant recipient for an additional five years. The Partnership applied once again and received the funding as an Injury Community Implementation Group (ICIGs).
