Sainik School of Gujarat was established in the year 1961 in Jamnagar. The School is located in the Balachadi Estate which is 32 km's away from Jamnagar. The Balachadi Estate was formerly a seaside summer resort that belonged to the rulers of Nawanagar. The estate comprises of 426 acres of land in the mangrove rich coastal belt of Saurashtra. Sprawling across a wide campus along the golden sands of the Gulf of Kutch, lies a patch of land, beautiful in its rare wealth of flora and fauna. Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India, presented the school its colour on 07 Mar 1965. The survivors of this outrage visited Balachadi which gave asylum to them at a tender age. They expressed their gratitude and to commemorate this event they installed a plaque in front of the school Building.
