The San Antonio Energy Coalition, Inc. (the "Coalition") is a 501(c)3 organization. The Coalition is organized exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes to promote the common interests in various professional societies in the energy industry. The Coalition seeks to build a spirit of community in the interest of advancing the study of energy related disciplines by providing scholarship funds to the local chapters of its member professional societies.
The major source of scholarship funds raised by the Coalition are raised at the annual Coaltion Blowout. Originating in the late 1970’s, local societies that served members in the oil and gas industry would get together at the Coalition Blowout to network and have a great time. Sometime in the mid-1980's, the event stopped being held.
The member professional societies resurrected the Coalition Blowout in 2008 to honor and celebrate the people that make the oil and gas industry great and to support scholarships for local college students. Over the last nine years, the Coalition Blowout has raised over $300,000 for scholarships.
