Sands Ring Homestead Musem

Sands Ring Homestead Musem company information, Employees & Contact Information

Sands Ring Homestead is one of the oldest Dutch Colonial houses still standing in the Hudson Valley. The original home was built in 1760 to 1770. Additions were made in 1777 to 1840. At one time the home contained 22 rooms. The Homestead was know as the Rose Cottage because of its beautiful rose arbor that once graced its entrance. Since the early 1970's students have participated in the living history programs at the Sands Ring Homestead Museum. Students learn about life in the 1700's while participating in colonial activities, such as hearth cooking, butter churning, spinning and weaving, candle-dipping, and cornhusk doll making. They also learn about the Sands family and their place in history.
