Scientists Warning Europe’s mission is to protect the future of our planet, our children, and all creatures by presenting and promoting science endorsed solutions for a sustainable and equitable future.
SWE represents, in Europe, tens of thousands of scientists who warn the World about the dangers of climate change and destruction of the biosphere - specifically those endorsing the Scientists Warnings to Humanity 1992/2017/2019
SWE takes action in Europe to: a) educate and inform the public, political and other leaders about the rapidly increasing dangers of climate change and the destruction of the World’s ecosystems as set out in the scientists warnings; b) facilitate rapid development of practical solutions to the Climate Crisis particularly in areas identified by the World’s scientists: Energy, Short-lived Pollutants, Nature, Food, Sustainable Economy and Population; d) base all decisions on core climate science.
Each scientists’ warning clearly describes the emergency we face providing scientific evidence of the extent and speed of damage being done and solutions required
In 1992 1700 scientists including a majority of Nobel science prize winners declared "Human beings and the natural world are on a collision course"
The World Scientists Warning to Humanity a Second Notice 2017, now signed by over 20,000 scientists states that severe, existential threats to human well-being are posed by our own behaviour and advocates strong steps to be taken to reverse negative trends including a groundswell of public and corporate pressure to force political leaders to face reality and act to avoid an ecological catastrophe for humanity and life on Earth.
5 November 2019 the World Scientists warning declared “with more than 11,000 scientist signatories from around the world, clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency.”
