Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak (SDAR) is a premier, all boys-fully residential school in Malaysia. Established in Johor Bahru on May 1, 1956, it was originally known as Sekolah Menengah Melayu (Malay Secondary School). On November 29, 1958, the school was renamed after Tun Abdul Razak, who was the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia at that time. Then he served as the 2nd Prime Minister of Malaysia from September 1970 until his passing (due to cancer) in January 1976, he is referred to as the Bapa Pembangunan (Father of Development) of Malaysia. SDAR was relocated few times from the state of Johor to Perak and finally settled down in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Along with the status of SDAR as a primary school in Malaysia, the Ministry of Education (Malaysia) has awarded the school a new campus in 2002, located in Sungai Gadut, Seremban. The new campus covers an area of about 40 acres of land with complete facilities. The school success continues and it was awarded as Cluster School of Excellence by the Ministry of Education (Malaysia) in 2008 and was selected as one of the top 20 High-Performance Schools in Malaysia in 2010. The school is specialised in rugby and the foyer program. Throughout the years, SDAR has produced many notable alumni that have contributed significantly towards the development of Malaysia and abroad. This includes heads of states and heads of government, politicians, diplomats, entrepreneurs, lawyers, economists, engineers, academicians, athletes and media personalities. The school alumni called SDAR Alumni (SDARA) has been actively supporting the teachers and administrators to ensure the school legacy continues.
