Senator Wilson is an executive leader with more than three decades of experience developing strategy, advancing complex initiatives, and fostering collaboration in multi-interest environments. He has consistently delivered innovative solutions that balance economic growth, environmental protection, and social responsibility.
Senator Wilson’s career is underscored by a passion for public service and inclusion. A trailblazer for 2SLGBTQIA+ representation, he served three consecutive terms in the 1990s as park commissioner as one of British Columbia’s first openly gay elected officials. He is a past chair and long-serving member on the board of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and has served on other boards including of the Clear Seas Centre for Responsible Marine Shipping, which he founded. He has received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Senator Wilson has a keen interest in international trade, foreign affairs, transport and regulatory reform and will support Canada in seizing opportunities to achieve its full economic potential globally, in a manner that respects human rights, Indigenous reconciliation and the environment.
