shapewave industries BV is a Netherlands based startup developing and licensing shapewave technology for design and production of shapewave® inside parts.
Our unique, patented technology comprises a method for allocating and bonding of internal structures to inflatable parts. shapewave® inside parts typically have thousands internal tapes, each with unique length, between the top and bottom membrane defining the shape of an inflatable part. Once inflated, the parts take on their precisely defined shape.
shapewave® inside constructions are light, stiff and rugged and can be inflated to well over 1bar - similar in stiffness and smoothness to drop-stich inflatables, yet with a functional shape and much lower weight and packed down volume.
Morphing shapewave® inside parts are created by including double skin sections in the membranes to work as pneumatic actuators, highly useful in inverting camber wing sails and in control surfaces in wings.
Available in a wide variation of membrane and webbing materials, shapewave® inside constructions are applied in wings, rotors and sails for energy, lift and propulsion, hulls and nacelles in (leisure) maritime. Other uses include shelters and awnings of all types, and mandrels for composites tooling.
The shapewave technology can be viewed as a new construction material, combining the benefits of inflatable parts – economical, rugged, stowable - with precision shape definition including morphing options. As a rapid manufacturing technology, lead times are short, and construction can start without the use of jigs and molds.
