The practice was founded by Hannes Bürger, Silvia Forlati and Thomas Lettner in 2003, Vienna. (to) SHARE is based upon the concept of knowledge exchange – we SHARE know-how and expertise to identify and develop the potentials of the given brief in cooperation with our clients. SHARE architects is interested in developing creative, solution-oriented architecture and urban design in different scales. We understand design as a collaborative process to merge wishes, ideas and dreams into a spatial and programmatic solution, making use of what is there and creating spaces and buildings with added values. The field of action spans from diverse built to unbuilt environments, covering exhibition furniture and shop design, signage to sustainable urban developments. The team works in wide range of scales, from microhomes to skyscrapers and refurbishment of town squares, and back. Difficult needs or conditions, such as redevelopment or conversion projects or limited budgets, are a welcome challenge. SHARE architects plans for private clients, growing tailored solutions to fulfil their needs, as well as for organisations, such as Caritas, Kolping, Wiener Gesundheitsverbund. The portfolio includes sheltered workshops for people with disabilities, civic building, affordable housing for students, elderly and disadvantaged people and the Palliative Pavilion at Klinik Ottakring, that was listed among the nominees for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2013. We have developed office concepts in the course of revitalizations of existing buildings for companies like ARA (Altstoff Recycling Austria), ÖWAV (Österr. Wasser- und Abfallwirtschaftsverband) or as part of the commission for the Austrian Aviation Authority's newly developed headquarters. The studio operates in dense urban environments as well as in rural areas, facing issues such as vacant spaces, urban regeneration and the reactivation of town centres, often developing and implementing participatory processes.
