Andrew Childs and Michelle Sleeper started the AWOL project in 2002. After a chance encounter during Realms Deep 2020, the pair revived the project and built a new team under Shotspark Studios, branching out into Unity and BUILD development.
Our story goes back to roots in the BUILD community, pioneered by 3D Realms and games like Duke Nukem 3D. Our focus is to put a personal spin on those classic titles that helped to define an era and currently our focus is creating “A.W.O.L.” – a standalone EDuke32 total conversion and tribute to Duke Nukem 3D - a game celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year!
